History

Atlanta, GA
So why create a blog? Well, those close to me know how passionate I am about my food...eating food, to be more precise. 15 years ago I discovered the joy of dining in restaurants which boast a unique ambiance and delicious food. I first started tracking lists of great restaurants when I lived in Columbus, OH in the mid 90's. I was fortunate to dine at Cameron Mitchell's, Fifty-Five, Bravo, Rigsby's, Barcelona, and many more. I read in local newspapers about the best Places to be Seen, to Celebrate, to Impress, etc. and formulated my "to try" list. This hobby continued in Birmingham, AL and again when my travels brought me to Atlanta, GA ten years ago. I started a Supper Club with close friends in 2000, trying a new restaurant every Thursday night. We had one simple rule in the club, “no chain restaurants”! After three years of stomping through Atlanta's best and worst restaurants, we realized that this weekly tradition was becoming too expensive to maintain (go figure!). However, in 2005 I started making notes of my dining experiences for personal reference. To make it easy for my friends to get my recommendations, I thought I would try blogging. So...here goes!

6 Overall Rating - Portofino 11/09/06

Food was okay.
Service was not great. Our server neglected to fill up my water glass twice while he filled up other glasses at the table.
Left only 10-12% tip.

6.5 Overall Rating - Strip 11/02/06

Food was not that good.
Ambiance was great, which helped offset the food quality to some degree.
Service was fine.

9 Overall Rating - Lobby at Twelve (Midtown) 10/14/06

Good wine
Food was delicious - Bib lettuce salad and arugula salad with blue cheese filo delicious. We ordered the steak and duck.

Ambiance: Awesome, but very loud. High ceilings, combination of booth seating along the wall as well as free-standing tables. Check it out for yourself or visit their website.

Food Quality: Appetizers were very good. However, the entree selection didn't appeal to me.

7 Overall Rating - Sage 12/17/05

Location:
121 Sycamore St
Decatur, GA 30030
Neighborhood: Decatur

Food Quality: Offered tapas and entrees. Menu was limited; not much on entree list. Shrimp was overcooked.
Service: Short-staffed
Value: Pricing was fair.

5 Overall Rating - Fire of Brazil Perimeter 11/20/05

Ambiance: Clean, good ambiance.

Food Quality: Meats were salty and dry. In most cases, it was overcooked. The salad bar was mediocre. It doesn't compare to Fogo de Chao, or even the Brazilian-themed restaurant in Marietta.

Price: Based on the quality, this would be overpriced for dinner.

9 Overall Rating - Bluepointe 11/02/05

This is my all time favorite restaurant. I first dined here in 2000/2001, well before I started keeping notes about my restaurant experiences. Here's what I had to say about my experience in 2005...

Ambiance: just okay; the lighting was brighter than I remember. The restaurant was speckled with mostly business clientele.

Service: The service still impeccable.

Food Quality: Sushi was not as good as once before. Duck is still one of my favorite dishes. Appetizers were mediocre.
