- So why create a blog? Well, those close to me know how passionate I am about my food...eating food, to be more precise. 15 years ago I discovered the joy of dining in restaurants which boast a unique ambiance and delicious food. I first started tracking lists of great restaurants when I lived in Columbus, OH in the mid 90's. I was fortunate to dine at Cameron Mitchell's, Fifty-Five, Bravo, Rigsby's, Barcelona, and many more. I read in local newspapers about the best Places to be Seen, to Celebrate, to Impress, etc. and formulated my "to try" list. This hobby continued in Birmingham, AL and again when my travels brought me to Atlanta, GA ten years ago. I started a Supper Club with close friends in 2000, trying a new restaurant every Thursday night. We had one simple rule in the club, “no chain restaurants”! After three years of stomping through Atlanta's best and worst restaurants, we realized that this weekly tradition was becoming too expensive to maintain (go figure!). However, in 2005 I started making notes of my dining experiences for personal reference. To make it easy for my friends to get my recommendations, I thought I would try blogging. So...here goes!

Ambiance: 2
Outdoor deck seating has potential, but is nearly on top of West Paces Ferry. Indoor was built with beautiful hardwood floors, but the restaurant reeked of a bad seafood odor. Acoustics were awful; we couldn't hear each other at a small table. We had to yell across table. The brown paper used to cover the top of the dining table emitted an unpleasant odor.
Food Quality: 7
The Chilled Seafood Tower was very good. Raw oysters, chilled mussels, peel 'n eat shrimp, lobster, and crabmeat served atop crushed ice for $35. Crab and corn hush puppies w/curry-based sauce were tasty. Good drink menu.
Service: 3
Our server was adequate; she was pleasant enough and checked in occasionally throughout service. However, we had poor experiences with two other servers in the restaurant.
One server at the next table dropped silverware on our table, causing a loud crashing sound when the silverware hit our table and then fell to the floor in a room that amplified the noise due to the bad acoustics. The server didn't bother apologizing.
The 2nd server brought food to our table, didn't say a word and didn't even break a smile. She appeared annoyed for whatever reason. She reminded me of Rosalie from the Twilight movie.
Value: 6
$35 for seafood tower - reasonable
$5 for good portioned hush puppies

I completely agree Judy! I thought the pricing was reasonable and the food was tasty, but the ambiance put a damper on the enjoyment. I might go there again, but only to dineside.
