We were impressed with their ability to convert an old Wendy's establishment into a trendy hot spot. I loved the kitchen and bar decor. Restrooms and restaurant were clean and well kept.....big points with me!
Food Quality: 6
The Panko Salmon was fantastic. The other items were average; we had the Bravas, Tostada, and Crab Empanada.

Matt did a great job. He was patient, checked in regularly with our table and was obviously knowledgeable of the menu.

Some items were reasonably priced, but several tapas items were on the high side.

- So why create a blog? Well, those close to me know how passionate I am about my food...eating food, to be more precise. 15 years ago I discovered the joy of dining in restaurants which boast a unique ambiance and delicious food. I first started tracking lists of great restaurants when I lived in Columbus, OH in the mid 90's. I was fortunate to dine at Cameron Mitchell's, Fifty-Five, Bravo, Rigsby's, Barcelona, and many more. I read in local newspapers about the best Places to be Seen, to Celebrate, to Impress, etc. and formulated my "to try" list. This hobby continued in Birmingham, AL and again when my travels brought me to Atlanta, GA ten years ago. I started a Supper Club with close friends in 2000, trying a new restaurant every Thursday night. We had one simple rule in the club, “no chain restaurants”! After three years of stomping through Atlanta's best and worst restaurants, we realized that this weekly tradition was becoming too expensive to maintain (go figure!). However, in 2005 I started making notes of my dining experiences for personal reference. To make it easy for my friends to get my recommendations, I thought I would try blogging. So...here goes!

Cute restaurant located in a small strip mall on Hwy 141 in Johns Creek. Recommended by one of Charles' co-workers. Family-owned restaurant, young couple opened the restaurant with their executive chef. Almost all of their staff were family members.
There's a full bar with surrounding dining tables in the left room behind the hostess stand. We sat in the main dining room.
You can tell that this is a local favorite. It opened fours year ago and was packed when we arrived on a Friday night. The one drawback is that the parking was limited. Beautiful hardwood floors; however, it was very loud and difficult to hear at our table.
Food Quality: 6
Calamari shrimp appetizer was fresh, but the sauce was too runny to adhere to the seafood, leaving the dish tasting bland. Our 2nd appetizer, the melanzane, was delightful and full of flavor. The bread was served with marinara and melted mozzarella cheese - absolutely delectable!
My cannelloni was only mediocre. The short ribs were a bit too salty. The mushroom risotto seemed to be undercooked; the texture was hard, but it was seasoned well. Greg enjoyed their "famous" pounded veal parmigiana. And Charles really liked his lamb chops, devouring every edible inch.
Service: 10
The owner waited on us. Greg asked for hot chocolate. Although this wasn't on the menu, she figured out how to make it with chocolate syrup she purchased for herself earlier that day and brought him a delicious mug of hot chocolate. Our water glasses were refilled continuously throughout the evening, one of the signs I always look for when eating out.

Given the location (in a strip mall off of Sandy Springs Circle), I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. The dining room was fairly small, however, they made good use of the space by optimizing seating. I liked the small partitioned area where a private party was taking place while we were dining. Although the dining room wasn't full, I believe that if all tables were used it would be very difficult to carry on a conversation due to the acoustics in the room. About a third of the dining room was in use when we were there, yet it was getting loud and becoming more difficult to hear one another.
Food Quality: 5
I started with the Chorizo Empanadas and quite frankly, this was the best empanada I’ve ever tasted! Unfortunately, the food went downhill from here. The vegetable tempura and salmon hand roll were ‘average’. The salmon was rolled in dry seaweed, stuffed with rice, butterleaf lettuce and sub-par quality salmon.
Service: 10
Our server was very attentive, yet conscientious of not crowing our space. He checked in frequently and was very patient while we reviewed the menu. The staff refilled our drinks throughout dinner service and the new owner made his rounds at each table, taking plenty of time to speak with customers to create a warm, neighborhood experience.

Fair pricing. However, I did find that some menu items were more expensive and other items were less expensive than comparable restaurants.

Lately, I've been disappointed with the acoustics in the new places that we've tried. Although the interiors were trendy and looked impressive, it was very hard to hear others at our table. Miller Union actually does a great job creating a clean, soft ambiance with great acoustics for conversation. The restaurant consists of three separate dining rooms, one with large windows overlooking patio seating and a small bar at the entrance.
Food Quality: 5
The food was average. We started with the cornmeal fritters which were bland; however, Greg enjoyed his rabbit prune spread. I did enjoy the duck breast entree. The duck was seasoned wonderfully; however, the entree could've used a very small starch to finish the plate. The duck and succotash were tasty, but left you wanting just a little more of something else. For dessert, we ordered the apple-pecan cake served w/caramel ice cream. The ice cream was delicious; but, the cake tasted like a bran muffin.
Service: 7
Our server was fine; knowledgeable of the menu. He did, however, add an extra $100 to our tab when he split the check. He apologized profusely when we brought it to his attention and rectified it immediately.

Both Kristin and Becky really enjoyed their dinners. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my dinner. I didn't have an issue with the apple salad, but I thought it was overpriced. The pappardelle carbonara was bland. It should have been a slam dunk with the house cured bacon and parmesan. Although the pasta was cooked perfectly, it lacked flavor.

This location was formerly home to Dunwoody's Brusters ice cream in the Dunwoody Plaza. It's a great casual place to bring kids or hang out for a low-key bite to eat for lunch or dinner. They optimize their small plot of real estate by offering patio seating on three sides of the building and they even expand seating into the parking lot. We just happened to drive by Village Burger earlier this afternoon and noticed their sign so we decided to come back around 7:30 this evening, only to find a 15 foot line out the front entrance. We drove around the building and stopped to talk with one of the patrons to ask her how the food was. She raved about it...claiming to have dined here three times previously. This place has only been open for one month...and this patron has been here four times already with her husband. Five Guys...watch out!
Similar to Taqueria del Sol, with only four weeks under their belt and limited marketing, this place is already becoming a local favorite judging from the line out the door. You walk in and order your food at the counter (thus, the long line and reference to Taqueria del Sol), then you grab a table and wait for your food to be delivered. Beer and wine are also available, and for dessert, they offer frozen custard which can be ordered in a cone, as a shake or as a sundae with a selection of popular premium candy :)
Food Quality: 4
We were so excited to try this place, especially after speaking with their customer. However, our excitement led to disappointment. The french fries were overcooked (both the house seasoned fries and regular fries). My cheeseburger was mediocre; honestly, I probably would have enjoyed a McD’s Quarter Pounder just the same. That’s not saying that it was a bad burger. To clarify, I actually happen to like McD’s Quarter Pounders a good bit. It’s just that I would have expected the burger to be as good as Burger King’s Whopper, but that wasn’t the case. Greg said that his hot dog was spectacular, so at least they did have one redeeming quality.
Service: 7

Yesterday, we saw a lot of foot traffic coming from the corner of the Dunwoody Publix shopping plaza and found this little gem. We decided to try it out during a break between our 7p and 9p volleyball matches. This is not the typical place I would write about, but it was a unique experience and one that definitely deserves a little attention. Interesting concept, one which I would describe as a frozen yogurt/smoothie buffet. You can select any combination of the 12 frozen yogurt flavors and build your own sundae, parfait or smoothie from the topping bar which was stocked full of fresh fruit, almonds, granola, nuts, candies, and select dry cereals! You pay $0.45/ounce, so you can have as little or much as your heart desires!

Chef Scott Serpas
Recommended by Kristin and Aaron a couple years ago. Sadly, it's taken me this long to get here.
Greg and I were out with Todd, Rory and Wade for a birthday celebration.
Ambiance: 7
When we arrived at 7:30, the restaurant was pretty empty; I think there were only two other tables in use. By 9:15, all of the tables inside were full. I love the backdrop of exposed brick along the entire interior wall and the open kitchen. We sat at the first table by the kitchen; it felt like the chef's table. However, the metal chairs were a little uncomfortable and the draft coming from the overhead a/c unit didn't help.
Brief note about the restroom facilities - the guys were impressed w/the deep dish urinals. There was only one large sink, located between the men's and women's restroom to be shared by both genders.
Food Quality: 10
The menu was excellent - great appetizers, good entree selection and fantastic dessert menu. Rory was kind enough to share his Duck Rolls - they very good with a slight kick - just right. The blue cheese eggplant hush puppies were rich with flavors. They were a little too rich for me, but were a big hit at the table.
Rory's pork chop entree was not lacking in size...absolutely divinely flavored!
Chef Scott Serpas gets major bonus points! He stopped by our table and shared some tips. The pork is delivered already brined. It's a high quality cut, w/lots of marble and served atop a port wine reduction. YUMMY! This was the best pork I've ever tasted!
Their Tuna tartar was sweet and refreshing, yet spicy. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I will forewarn you that it brings plenty of heat. The french fries were very good...similar to Five Guys french fries. (Yea, I know...it's probably not what the Chef would want to hear, but I love potatoes and I can't help but admit that Five Guys french fries are quite good!)
Service: 9.5
Good service. However, we almost had a mishap when we ordered the praline chocolate cake, brown sugar cake and pear tart. Our server told us they just sold their last pear tart. While our table tried to decide on a 3rd dessert for the group to share, another server walked behind our server and informed her that they actually do have the pear tart. We asked the other server why she did that to us, and she responded, "I just like f'in with you". It was a bold statement, but with this crowd, she got away with it. The guys broke out in laughter and had a good time with it.

So Kong Dong was recommended by Q. We're always looking for good Korean BBQ, especially one that's closer than all the places off of Pleasant Hill Rd.
Ambiance: 3
I expected to find tile floors and a walk-up counter based on comments from Q, but I was pleasantly surprised to find hardwood floors and decorative partitions in the restaurant. Once we got past the exterior and loud music blaring into the parking lot from the neighboring Mexican billiards bar, we actually enjoyed our experience.
Food Quality: 7
The squid side dish was too spicy for me, but very good. The Korean BBQ ribs were good, but not as flavorful as the BBQ short ribs that I've had at Chung Dam or Honey Pig.
Service: 6
Our server was very helpful. She steered us away from several dishes that she described as "food that only Koreans like" and guided us toward the "American-friendly" side of the menu. It was cute. The rest of the service was fine; it was adequate, but not exceedingly friendly.

This location has been opened for approximately eight months. After a long day in the sun and playing against a full slate of solid competition in Amber's Acceleration Fitness Last Blast women's sand volleyball tournament, I had developed a full appetite and was ready to dive into a hefty dinner! Greg got up at the crack of dawn, stayed at the courts most of the day to support me and was also ready for a well-deserved meal. Taki was just right for both us!

We were pleasantly surprised by the beatiful decor, dark wood accents, warm lighting and stone walls throughout the restaurant. We ate in the back hibachi area where they had six large hibachi tables. The corridor leading to the hibachi area was lined with a wine bottle display, fit for your trendy seeker. The restaurant was nicely appointed with leather or faux leather modern style soft seating throughout. The restrooms were furnished with up-to-date fixtures and was well-kept.
Food Quality: 8
The salad dressing was very good; sweeter than some people may like it, but we really enjoyed it. The miso soup was average.
I've never been offered garlic butter to add directly on top of my fried rice, but this place offered and I would highly recommend accepting this if you like garlic and if you're not on a date! Their yummy sauce isn't as good as Lee's Golden Buddha & Mo Mo Ya's, but the ginger sauce is almost as good as anywhere I've been, yet lighter in flavor. As a finishing touch, they gave the entire table a sample of their noodles which were quite tasty (again, on the sweeter side). Greg ordered the shrimp and steak hibachi meal; I ordered the NY strip hibachi meal. Portion sizes were generous (you gotta like that!)
Service: 9
Friendly staff, our chef was accommodating to special requests made by others at our table.
Value: $61 for two entrees and two teas. Entrees came w/soup, salad, two shrimp, rice and vegetables

This restaurant was surprisingly nice even though it's located in the Dunwoody Wal-Mart strip mall. Tables were covered w/white tablecloths and the lighting was soft. The one drawback was the white tile floors which left the dining room feeling a little cold versus adding warmth to the room.

Chicken curry was delicious - tender meat, perfectly spiced orange curry
Service: 4
Arrived at 9:20 on Sunday. Restaurant closes at 10p. When the hostess sat us, I noticed our waiter walk by our table and he immediately checked his watch. The initial service was a bit unfriendly, but our server seemed to warm up throughout service. We ordered the "dinner for 2", complete with vegetable samosa, garlic naan, chicken and shrimp tandoori, chicken curry and vegetable malaie kofta. For dessert, they gave us ras malai (delicate cheese patties in flavored cream milk - interesting, but would not order it again). After the appetizer, two other servers appeared and we received frequent stops at the table to explain dishes and check on our meal. Food was prepped quickly and service was very efficient.
When we commented about their promptness, one of the servers said, "we close at 10". Although he smiled, we could tell that they were dead serious about closing at 10p. There were 4-5 other tables when we arrived and by the time we received our check, there was just one other table. The primary server came by to pick up the check before I had a chance to get my credit card...they were obviously in a hurry to get us out of there. When we finally left, I looked at the time and we followed the last table out the door at exactly 10:01!
Service improved on the second visit. Our reservation was at 7:30, so I'm sure this made a difference for the staff! Generally, their servers aren't very friendly, although they are attentive. The owner was more friendly and stopped by the table once or twice to check on us.

If you have a moment, allow me to share a little history regarding the Book Club dinner experience. Eat, Pray, Love is a story about a woman's experience in Italy, India and Bali. We thought it would be great to see the movie and then eat at an Indonesian restaurant. I had been researching Indonesian restaurants online for a month or two and found it to be a bit challenging because there aren’t too many restaurants specializing in “Indonesian” food. Some of the searches pulled up restaurants that have since gone out of business, so just when I thought I found the perfect place for us, I would later realize that the posts were 3-4 years old and then stumble across another website confirming that the restaurant was closed.
I was, however, finally able to identify 5-6 different Indonesian restaurants in the greater Atlanta area. One night after work, I convinced a co-worker to join me for dinner so that I could try one of the Indonesian restaurants before dragging all of the book club friends there. Well, we turned up at Nelayan which received pretty decent reviews on UrbanSpoon. Unfortunately, the door was locked and the window blinds were closed. We managed to peer through a crack and could tell that the place was completely empty.
We then drove to another location which was only a mile away from the 1st place we tried…only to discover that there was no sign of an Indonesian restaurant existing at that address. We then tried a 3rd place and somehow ended up on Roswell Road/Riverside Drive and could have driven ourselves right into the river if we would have followed the GPS directions! You would have thought that I’d be smart enough to call ahead to the restaurants after the 1st attempt….but I didn’t figure this out until after 3 attempts and only after my co-worker suggested that we call ahead before driving any further (doh!). I called the next two places on my list and was able to connect with someone on the other end of the line, so alas, I confirmed that these two places were still in business!
So with my co-worker caravanning behind me after an hour+ of touring through Alpharetta and Roswell, we drove another 30 minutes and found ourselves in T-Jo’s neck of the woods…some Hong Kong Market in Norcross! We located the shopping plaza…but would you believe that we couldn’t find the restaurant to save our lives?!? We drove through the entire parking lot, even circled behind the building and got a beautiful view of their dumpsters and back entrances….I have no idea where that place was, so we ended up eating at a little Thai restaurant because we were absolutely starving and exhausted by this point.
After dinner, with one last option on my list, I had this “not-so-bright” idea to do a “drive-by” after dinner before heading home. Batavia received good ratings on UrbanSpoon; however, a few reviewers commented that the location was “shady”, so I had kept this place as a last resort for us. Plus, judging from the online pictures, this place looked more like a cafeteria. Batavia is located on Chamblee Dunwoody, west of Buford Hwy…and boy, they weren’t kidding about this place being shady. There were a bunch of guys sitting around the parking lot and as soon as I pulled into the lot, several of them started walking toward my car. I found Batavia, of course it was at the back of this 2-story, run-down commercial building. When you see window security bars on every window, that should be a good sign to leave right away, especially when it’s after 10 o’clock at night and a handful of guys are walking toward you…so that’s just what I did!
So, to my disappointment, I couldn't find a Bali-like restaurant for us to try. We decided to enjoy Indian food which is how we ended up at Viceroy. As it turned out, it was more conveniently located to the movie theater and we ended up having a great time!

Appetizers were mediocre. Ordered the sampler which came with the Shirazi Salad, Kash-O-Bademjan, Mirza Qasemi and Dolmeh (Stuffed grape leaves). The shirazi salad was bland, the grape leaves were peculiar; however, the eggplant was delicious.
For our entree, Greg and I split the sirloin kabob, barberry chicken rice dish and a side of vegetable kabob. Dinner was fantastic. The barberries added an unexpected tart flavor to the otherwise buttery and savory rice and chicken dish. It was a nice complement to the sirloin and vegetable kabob. I liked the fact that the kitchen removed all skewers, but was able to maintain the clean, straight line of a skewer.

9 rating for outdoor patio seating. The interior looked nice, but it was very loud. We were sitting at one of the few tables without an umbrella. Shortly after our entrees were served, it started to lightly rain. We tried to wait it out, but then we had this grand idea of picking up our table and carrying it to an area underneath the building's awning. It was perfect, quite honestly. There was a nice bench along the building under the awning and we pulled the table up to the bench, pulled up two chairs for Jen and Rosie, and completed our dinner there. It was such a great idea that another table of quickly followed and set up their table next to us!

One server at the next table dropped silverware on our table, causing a loud crashing sound when the silverware hit our table and then fell to the floor in a room that amplified the noise due to the bad acoustics. The server didn't bother apologizing.
The 2nd server brought food to our table, didn't say a word and didn't even break a smile. She appeared annoyed for whatever reason. She reminded me of Rosalie from the Twilight movie.

We went to Harry and Sons to meet Tim and Janice after a long day of volleyball. When we walked in, we saw Tema and Brian sitting at a table in the back part of the restaurant (yes, this is the same Tema and Brian with whom we had dinner just the night before!) We crashed their date night and kinda invited ourselves (along with two other friends, Tim & Janice, whom they didn't know) to join them and moved to a larger table. What a coincidence!
Ambiance: 4
Small restaurant, but is a favorite amongst the volleyball players.
Food Quality: 5
Average food, ordered from the Thai menu: yum yai salad, chicken masaman was average. Need to try their sushi next time.

Parish features exposed brick walls with a semi-demo'd sheet rock design. It's a casual restaurant that does a nice job creating a farmhouse environment. Enjoyed the unplugged live music, but it was too loud to comfortably converse at the table.
Food Quality: 5
Brian loved his creole frites, served w/red pepper sauce and worcestershire sauce. Tema and I both enjoyed our milk and honey salad - very nice. My buttermilk fried chicken was average, served w/grits and pickled veggies. Greg enjoyed his catfish stuffed w/crawfish and crab. Brian's pea and carrot ravioli portion was too small for my liking (of course), but he said it was very good. The menu selection was limited and I wasn't too impressed with many of the ingredients in the dishes.
Service: 6
Slow to refill my water.

Food Quality: 7
Ordered scallops and tuna for appetizers. Scallops served atop braised pork belly and cabbage - good flavor; one of the best plates. the tuna tartar chopped w/avocado was bland.
Shrimp and grits w/spicy tomato sauce was nicely done.
Michelle's skatewing dish was salty all around.
Amy's lamb dish w/mashed potatoes was good.
Loved the dessert options...all served as mini-plates. Bread pudding was delicious...one of the best ever; carrot cake was also amongst the top! We also had fudge cake w/chocolate orange ice cream.
Service: 8
Attentive, kept drinks refilled, but lacked warm personality.
Price: 9
Although my dear friends wouldn't let me see or contribute to the bill because we were celebrating my birthday! If I recall correctly, all entree prices were reasonable. Appetizers seemed a little higher than average.

8 rating relative to other restaurants in Charleston; however, if you want a low-key casual place to hang out on the water, this would be a 10!
Ambiance: 10
This was exactly what we were looking for on a night like this. Our table was outside on the patio, overlooking the water. We had perfect temperatures with a cool breeze. Does it get any better than this to watch fireworks?! Casual, fun environment. Busy bar. Great music in the background. Fireworks were displayed from 7 different locations...amazing!
Food Quality: 8
For starters, delicious biscuits served with honey butter was a fantastic way to start the dinner service!
Steak Calamari with two sauces- preferred sweet chutney were good
Hushpuppies stuffed w/shrimp, lobster, corn and chive chowder atop sauce were wonderful.
Mussels were bland.
Crabmeat bruschetta - light, healthy, crabmeat was plentiful (only average for me, but everyone else loved it).
For entrees, I ordered the pan-roasted honey ginger scallops - absolutely delicious. A wonderful blend of flavors. Side of cole slaw - fresh, light yet flavorful.
Greg's chargrilled tuna was not very good; it was too charred, but the grits (made w/buttermilk and heavy cream) were truly divine!
Rosie's lemon dill butter shrimp was good - nice combination of flavors.
We all split the white chocolate bread pudding - it was disappointing; texture was more like cornbread and lacked moistness. Flavors were muted, although the creme anglaise was good.
Service: 10
Our server, Ish, was knowledgeable, patient, did a thorough yet concise job highlighting top items on the menu. Service throughout dinner didn't miss a beat. He even cleared the bar crowd when the fireworks started, explaining that we reserved tables. Ish did an awesome job managing crowd.

Rating would have been a 2 without the following: rubbing salt in bathroom, Inspirational quotes printed on cards, long rocking bench, manager Dave stopping by) lots of unique qualities. The floor plan was compartmentalized, spread out on a couple floors, lots of seating tightly placed. Place is huge!!
Food Quality: 3
Ordered crab and shrimp dip, fried green tomatoes, and their house special grit patties w/crabmeat - all mediocre. Skimped on crackers too (for dip) requested more, but still didn't have enough.
Service: 7
Friendly. The manager, Dave, stopped by every table. the restaurant was canvassed with celebrity photos, name plates and articles. We had to request silverware and napkins.

Have to say these desserts are better than Cafe Intermezzo. I ordered Pineapple White Cake - delicious! Rosie's berry cobbler was the best cobbler I've ever tasted. Lots of cobbler mix...and the real stff, ya know I mean? Greg's blueberr cream cake was just as moist and rich as my pineapple cake. George's brownie cake was average.

Raw oysters were small, but the quality was fine.
Their signature dish, stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, was tasty. However, if this is the restaurant's best, it sets the tone for what you can expect from the rest of the menu. This dish had a good flavor, but it lacked a distinguishing character. Hush puppies were dense, average.

Fried green tomato appetizer was superb - sweet, succulent. A great blend of flavors served over grits with a slice of ham and carmelized onion/tomato chutney. Homemade blue cheese chips w/scallion - chips cooked perfectly, just like Buckhead Diner, but I would prefer one more flavor for a kick.
Entree: fried chicken entree was average; good flavors, served w/mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuit and collard greens.
Shellfish grits w/lobster, scallops, shrimp - rich in flavor served over cheese grits.

Interesting menu. Coq au vin was too salty. Duck appetizer was pretty good; salmon/cheese appetizer was delicious - but a bit simple for this restaurant; it was more like a grilled cheese sandwich. Becky liked her dish, shrimp wrapped in pastry, but it was a little bland for me. However, the shrimp was breaded and fried perfectly.

8 Overall Rating - Trois 05/02/08
We dined with Charles (my former co-worker from the Birmingham Marriott) and his wife, Heather.
I guess I need to hurry up and post my notes quickly because some of these places are no longer in business. Unfortunately, Trois is one of them; judging from my Google search, it closed recently.
The food was very good; the menu was limited.
The decor was beautiful, modeled after the photos we often see of Greece. The interior was clean, painted in bright white and accented with long, flowing sheer curtains throughout the restaurant.
I enjoyed the complimentary gazpacho, chocolate and champagne (of course, any free food or drinks usually get my vote)!
This restaurant would have received a 9 rating, ranked right up there with my all-time favorite (BluePointe), had it not been for the horrible bathroom experience after dinner.
First of all, the restrooms are inconveniently located on a floor separate from the main dining area. Secondly, I hate unisex restrooms and "these" were just that.
Next, I opened three restroom doors before I found one with a toilet that wasn't overflowing.
Finally, the last straw, it took me at least 10 minutes to find the stupid flush button on the toilets. It's no wonder that the other toilets weren't flushed....no one could figure out how to flush those ridiculous things! There was even a sign posted on the restroom door expaining where the flush button was located, but even then it still took great effort to locate the button.
So you may be asking yourself, "Where in the world was the flush button?" Well, it was located on the toilet bowl below the toilet seat. The button was flush with the bowl...hard to see. I'm sure some designer thought this sleek look would be a big hit in a trendy restaurant...but this is a perfect example when design just doesn't outweigh function. It probably continued to be a disaster for the restaurant. Although we had a great dining experience, we never returned.

I was in search of a good Korean BBQ restaurant after my Korean sister-in-law introduced us to this unique cuisine and fun experience while she and my brother were staying with us. This place was recommended by Yung when I was getting a manicure at Julio Cesar's Salon & Spa.
As the name implies, it is a buffet restaurant...so you know how that goes, but it's a great value. The food was quite good. This place stays busy, so I take that as a good sign. The place is a little dirty.

I don't recall the food standing out. I like what they're trying to achieve - healthy eating, reduced calories, great environment, good wine list, consistent food quality; however, I just don't find their food to be that good. I do have to give them some credit though...it's here where I first saw the small, dessert shooters so I give them a bonus point for that. That's one of the best ideas yet!

Ambiance: Awesome, but very loud. High ceilings, combination of booth seating along the wall as well as free-standing tables. Check it out for yourself or visit their website.
Food Quality: Appetizers were very good. However, the entree selection didn't appeal to me.

5 Overall Rating - Fire of Brazil Perimeter 11/20/05
Ambiance: Clean, good ambiance.
Food Quality: Meats were salty and dry. In most cases, it was overcooked. The salad bar was mediocre. It doesn't compare to Fogo de Chao, or even the Brazilian-themed restaurant in Marietta.
Price: Based on the quality, this would be overpriced for dinner.

This is my all time favorite restaurant. I first dined here in 2000/2001, well before I started keeping notes about my restaurant experiences. Here's what I had to say about my experience in 2005...
Ambiance: just okay; the lighting was brighter than I remember. The restaurant was speckled with mostly business clientele.
Service: The service still impeccable.
Food Quality: Sushi was not as good as once before. Duck is still one of my favorite dishes. Appetizers were mediocre.

My first entry!
Before I begin, let me apologize for the general nature of my early day notes. My notes were designed for personal reference only. Five years ago, I didn't have a single thought about sharing this, let alone posting it on a public forum like this.
I'll begin by sharing my first notes in 2005 and will work my way toward more recent visits.
All ratings are on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest rating.
